Our Team. Volunteer Associates, Inc.
Volunteer Associates runs the beloved Hoosier to Hoosier Community Partnership and expects to develop other projects that benefit the Bloomington community.
We are an ever constant and constantly changing group of individuals who strive to keep mother Earth healthy through landfill diversion. All of us volunteer our time to Hoosier 2 Hoosier throughout the year organizing, planning, writing grants, gathering curb alerts, collecting items from dorms and residences around Bloomington, distributing items to local non-profits, sorting and of course, selling items on the sale days.
A newly-retired professor of Political Science at Indiana University who became involved with H2H in its very first year, 2009. Since then, I have volunteered extensively each summer, transporting and sorting donations, and taken responsibility for cleaning and donating hundreds of items of bedding and thousands of personal care and cleaning products to more than a dozen local nonprofit organizations, including the Shalom Center, Middle Way House, Amethyst House, and Pantry 279. I love having the opportunity to help organizations as they serve their clients and to work with a truly community-minded and collaborative group of H2H organizers and volunteers.
I stumbled upon H2H in 2015 while wandering the warehouse as my son was at camp. When I saw the massive 'garage sale' and spoke to Margie about the program, I just knew I had to be a part of it. I have since been involved in various capacities.
My biggest contribution has been establishing the Brands on a Budget Boutique. Taking those higher end items, cleaning, fixing and then selling them to customers who appreciate the quality at a lower price.
I love working with these amazing people!
Then infamous Mighty Mary came to us through Cutters Soccer Club and has been a stable supporter for H2H. From helping with sorting, pick-ups and money management during the sale, Mary has been there. She's the muscle of the group!
